Interesting excerpt from a speech made by Mr Rupert Murdoch in The Australian yesterday (that venerable rag!) Instead of quaking in his boots about the rise of digital and consequent demise of good journalism, he suggests that media owners must go from thinking of their main labour as creating News Papers to thinking of creating News Brands. Most of the good ones have been doing this for years anyway (SMH, The Guardian)
Its about providing a certain style of editorial, that can be tailored by the reader, to suit their interests. I don't read the Sunday Times, but if that's your choice, then how fabulous you can access it's style of writing and content everyday of the week - Opportunity!
I would like to see a greater option for reader involvement, beyond the straight "Comment" option, but its a great start.
